Patches has been at Hard Rock Farm for three weeks and is "happy as a clam" according to Sheryl. They are working him six days a week to build up his endurance and will shoe him this week. He particularly enjoys being in the cross ties, taking in all the action around him. In a month or so Manny will join him to prepare for the 2006 show season.

A 6:30 a.m. telephone call woke us up this morning - it was from Anne, reporting that there was a foal running around in Liza's paddock. Our barn helper, Robbi, saw her first and was miffed that we hadn't called her to report the birth, not realizing that the baby was brand new. Michael and I (and Barn Dog) raced to the barn and the baby ran over to the fence to visit us. Liza was not amused and charged over to make sure that we did not harm her baby. It was obvious from Day 1 that Liza adored her little filly and Anne and I spent the day in the barn - watching her nurse, putting a blanket on her back and generally imprinting her.
